Hill Blue Flycatcher

Muscicapidae

The Hill Blue Flycatcher is a small bird of the Muscicapidae family known for its attractive body color—males have bright blue feathers on their heads and backs, while females are duller in color with grayish-brown tones. This species generally inhabits mountainous forests and hills in South Asia to Southeast Asia, including Indonesia.

This bird is often found in the lower canopy layer of the forest, actively catching insects in the air or on the surface of leaves. Its presence is an indicator of a healthy forest ecosystem and serves as a natural controller of insect populations. (IAAS/LAN)
