Actitis hypoleucos Linnaeus, 1758
Common Sandpiper — Scolopacidae
This bird is easily recognized by its distinctive behavior: often nodding its body and wagging its tail while walking along the water’s edge. The Common Sandpiper is usually found on riverbanks, lakes, fishponds, and coastal areas. During migration season, this bird migrates far from its breeding areas in the northern hemisphere to tropical regions such as Indonesia. (IAAS/RSL)
