The Rector of IPB University, Dr Alim Setiawan Slamet, inaugurated 43 new structural officials. The inauguration ceremony took place solemnly at Grha Widya Wisuda, IPB Dramaga Campus, on Friday (2/20).
“Today’s inauguration is part of IPB University’s strategic organizational transformation. We are carrying out this transformation with the main objectives of strengthening relevance, accelerating impact, and ensuring the sustainability of IPB University,” said the Rector in his speech.
He added that the appointed officials are expected to be able to exercise collaborative, adaptive, and future-oriented leadership. All units, faculties, schools, and institutions are required to move in one direction to strengthen academic quality, research, student services, and make a real contribution to the nation.
According to him, the roles of the Vice Deans and Department Chair are crucial as the driving force behind the progress of faculties and schools. They are expected to be able to improve academic quality, encourage research productivity, improve student services, expand cooperation, and build an ecosystem conducive to the birth of innovation and outstanding talent.
The Rector also emphasized the strategic role of the Director of Student Affairs in improving student achievement, including restoring IPB’s position as the overall champion of the National Student Scientific Week (Pimnas), promoting student organizations to the global level, and ensuring student welfare.
Meanwhile, the Director of International Education is encouraged to accelerate internationalization by strengthening double degree programs, joint degrees, joint supervision, expanding student mobility, developing international classes, and increasing the number of foreign students. “IPB must increasingly become part of the global academic community,” he said.
The Director of Career Development, Entrepreneurship, and Alumni Relations is asked to ensure that IPB University graduates are quickly absorbed into the workforce, build businesses, or continue their studies. Relations with alumni must also be strengthened as a reflection of reputation and as co-creators in institutional transformation.
The Rector also highlighted the role of the Secretary of the International Research Institute for Food, Nutrition, Health, and Halal in strengthening international research collaboration and realizing a halal incubator center that bridges research with industry. In addition, officials at the Agromaritime Development and Innopreneurship Acceleration Institute are encouraged to develop an independent Science Techno Park (STP) that contributes to the institution’s income generation.
Governance and financial sustainability were also highlighted by the Rector, including through the strengthening of the Office of Campus Security, Safety, and Protection Management, as well as professional and data-driven management of sustainable funds and investments by the Investment and Business Agency.
“We want to build IPB University as an institution that not only produces knowledge but also provides solutions; not only produces graduates but also nurtures leaders,” he said.
He concluded his speech with a message urging all officials to work based on three core values: integrity in governance, courage to innovate, and sensitivity to social impact, in order to realize a collaborative, adaptive, and future-oriented IPB University. (IAAS/KQA)
