Eight Karate Club Athletes from IPB University Win 19 Medals at the 2026 Budi Luhur University Karate Championship

At the beginning of 2026, IPB University students achieved remarkable achievements in sports. The Karate Student Activity Unit (UKM) won 19 medals at the Budi Luhur University Karate Championship 2026 held at GOR PKP JISC, East Jakarta.

Of the eight athletes who competed, the IPB University delegation brought home 10 gold medals, 5 silver medals, and 4 bronze medals. The national championship was attended by 1.014 participants from various regions in Indonesia.

“Congratulations to our Karate Club friends for consistently achieving excellence at the national level. This achievement is one of the proofs that IPB University is capable of competing in the field of sports. We will continue to support student activities that excel at both national and international levels,” said Dr Akhmad Arifin Hadi, Director of Student Affairs, IPB University.

President of the IPB University Karate Club, Dede Yadi Herdiansah, expressed his appreciation for the campus’ support in coaching student athletes. “Thank you to all our supporters and IPB University for always supporting us.”

“We hope that the mentoring will continue to be improved because it really helps us balance our academic activities and training. IPB Lucky Sport mentoring, as a consultation platform has had a very positive impact on us athletes,” he said. 

He noted that the Karate Club will continue to strive consistently to contribute its achievements at the next level of competition.

“We are very proud of IPB students who excel and contribute at the national level. We designed the IPB Lucky Sport program as a form of guidance and consultation for sports activities,” said Abdul Qodir, SSos, MM, Supervisor of Student Sports and Arts Development, Directorate of Student Affairs, IPB University.
