Butterfly Species (Graphium agamemnon)
Distinctive characteristics: G. agamemnon is a medium-sized butterfly with a dark brownish-black base color and green patterns spread across the upper side of its wings. The underside of the wings is paler in color compared to the upper side.
Behavior: G. agamemnon is active in flight around midday, moving quickly and agilely. This species is often found hovering among Ixora (soka) and Lantana camara (tembelekan) flowers. Its caterpillars and eggs can be found on soursop G. agamemnon plants.
General distribution: India, Nepal, Andaman, Nicobar, Bangladesh, Brunei, Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, southern China, Taiwan, Malaysia, Brunei, Sumatra, Nias, Mentawai, Bangka, Java, Bali, Lombok, Sumbawa, Kalimantan, the Philippines, and Australia. (IAAS/VMH)
Host plants for caterpillars: Soursop (Annona muricata) from the Annonaceae family, and Champak (Michelia champaca).
