Its commitment to sustainable development continues to position IPB University as one of the most progressive universities in Indonesia. Through research based innovation, community empowerment, and cross-sector collaboration, IPB University makes a real contribution to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at the national and global levels.

This approach emphasizes that universities not only serve as centers of education, but also as drivers of sustainable social and economic transformation.

At the national level, IPB University has achieved impressive results through Indonesia’s SDGs Action Awards, ranking first for three consecutive years from 2022 to 2024, then ranking second in 2025. This achievement demonstrates that SDG implementation does not stop at academic concepts but has a direct impact on society through various village empowerment and local economic strengthening programs.

Flagship programs such as One Village One CEO, People’s Animal Husbandry School, and IPB Rice for the Nation support national food security based on research innovation.

Global recognition was also achieved through the Times Higher Education Sustainability Impact Ratings for the 2019–2025 period. IPB consistently ranked among the best universities in Indonesia, even reaching 94th in the world in 2024, before falling to 101–200 in the world in 2025.

Thematically, IPB University showed excellent performance in SDG 1 No Poverty with a ranking of 8th in the world, SDG 2 Zero Hunger at 14th in the world, SDG 15 Life on Land at 32nd in the world, and SDG 8 Decent Work and Economic Growth at 45th in the world. These achievements confirm the consistent integration of education, research, and environmental sustainability.

The Rector of IPB University, Dr Alim Setiawan Slamet, emphasized that this success was the result of the collective work of the entire academic community and development partners. According to him, the SDGs are not merely international ranking indicators, but rather the campus’ strategic direction in providing tangible benefits to society.

“This achievement shows that universities have a big responsibility to provide science based solutions. IPB is committed to making research and innovation the driving force for transformation towards food security, environmental sustainability, and community welfare,” he said.

He also added that collaboration with the government, industry, local communities, and international networks is key to expanding the impact of the SDG programs run by IPB University. Through this approach, the campus not only serves as a center of education but also as an accelerator of social and economic change.

With consistent national achievements and increasing global recognition, IPB University strengthens its position as an innovative campus that actively promotes sustainable development. This step also proves that Indonesia’s scientific contributions can have a real impact on a more sustainable future for the world. (AS) (IAAS/HLF)
