IPB University has officially launched the Applied Master’s Program in Digital Communication and Media. This program is designed for graduates with a bachelor’s degree (S1) or an applied bachelor’s degree (D4) who wish to deepen their expertise in the field of digital communication.

Program Director Dr Willy Bachtiar explained that the launch of this program is a strategic step in addressing the industry’s need for communication talent grounded in technology, data, and artificial intelligence (AI).

“Communication is no longer merely about conveying messages; it has evolved into a complex and interconnected ecosystem,” he said. He added that the industry’s demand for communication talent is now not only conceptual but also practical and technology-driven.

Through the applied master’s program, students will be equipped with “bionic communication skills” a combination of empathy, storytelling, leadership, and proficiency in AI and data analysis.

Furthermore, Dr Willy explained that while communication programs generally focus on foundational knowledge and operational skills, IPB University’s Applied Master’s Program in Digital Communication and Media emphasizes strategic thinking and data-driven decision making.

“Our graduates are projected to become strategic leaders, not merely executors. They will be able to design communication policies, digital governance, and technology-based innovations,” he explained.

Who Can Apply?
This program is open to applicants from various backgrounds, not limited to communication graduates. Professionals from the fields of business, technology, government, and the creative industries are encouraged to join to enrich the multidisciplinary perspective.

In terms of outcomes, students will not only produce a thesis but also tangible products such as digital communication prototypes or applied research based solutions. Additionally, the learning process involves industry practitioners to ensure relevance to the needs of the professional world.

Graduates of this program have the opportunity to hold strategic positions such as digital communication strategist, corporate communications director, data-driven media analyst, and digital transformation leader.
