Amidst the growing need for leadership and management research, IPB University has officially launched its Doctoral Program in Management Science (PDIM). This program is designed to strengthen the development of management science based on sustainability management, while addressing the limited number of management doctors in Indonesia.
The Doctoral Program in Management Science is under the Department of Management, Faculty of Economics and Management (FEM) at IPB University, with four strategic specializations: Sustainable Marketing Management, Operations and Supply Chain Management, Risk Management, and Human Resource Management (HRM) and Organization. All specializations are designed to produce doctoral research that has an impact on industry, society, and public policy.
The Chair of the Department of Management at IPB University, Dr Eko Ruddy Cahyadi, explained that the opening of the PDIM was based on three main considerations.
“There are three reasons why we opened this doctoral program, namely the high market demand for management doctors, the rapid development of management science, and the academic readiness of the Department of Management at IPB University,” he said.
He added that technological disruption from the 4.0 Industrial Revolution to the 5.0 Industrial Revolution requires more focused and relevant management research. “The current business dynamics cannot be addressed solely by efficiency, but also by social responsibility and sustainability,” he emphasized.
Meanwhile, Dr Furqon Syarief Hidayatulloh, Chair of the Graduate Program in Management Science, said that PDIM was designed through a long process, starting from aligning the curriculum with industrial and academic needs, strengthening lecturer human resources, to the readiness of learning facilities.
“This program not only produces academically excellent doctors, but also strategic decision makers based on sustainability,” he said.
The Dean of the Graduate School at IPB University, Prof Dodik Ridho Nurrochmat, expressed his appreciation for the launch of PDIM at this important moment in national development. He believes this program will strengthen IPB University’s role in producing scientists and strategic thinkers.
The official launch was conducted by the Acting Rector of IPB University, Prof Ernan Rustiadi, during the Soft Launching of PDIM held at the Ballroom of the Startup Center (GSC) Building, Taman Kencana Campus, Bogor. He emphasized that this program is a manifestation of IPB University’s commitment to the global sustainability agenda.
“PDIM is expected to produce doctors who not only develop theories but also create real solutions for society and industry,” he said.
With the presence of the Doctoral Program in Management Science, IPB University expands its contribution to the development of national management science and strengthens its position as a sustainable research-based university. (*/dr) (IAAS/KQA)

- Registration period: October 20th–December 30th, 2025
- Administrative selection (Graduate School: December 28th–31st, 2025)
- Additional selection by PDIM: January 5th, 2026
