The Endowment and Social Fund Unit (UWDS) of IPB University and Dompet Dhuafa’s Integrated Health Center organized a Protein Donation and Free Medical Treatment program for the campus adjacent community. The program took place at the Al-Amin Endowment Mosque, Cihideung Ilir Village, Ciampea Subdistrict, Bogor Regency (5/5).

The Chairman of IPB University’s UWDS, Prof Alla Asmara, explained that this program combines two main activities: free health services and the distribution of protein supplements to the community.

“This activity is not just a health check up, we also provide additional protein to the community as a form of care for their nutritional needs,” he said.

According to him, the choice of the Protein Charity concept aims to offer a more inspiring approach to sharing. “Protein is one of the primary nutrients needed by everyone, both children and adults. Therefore, in this inaugural event, each participant received assistance in the form of eggs as a protein source.”

The program targets approximately 100 participants in each session. In addition to receiving free check ups and treatment, participants requiring further care will be referred for additional medical services.

Furthermore, Prof Alla emphasized that this activity is planned to take place twice a month, with one session on campus and one in the villages surrounding the campus.

He also noted that this program is part of the implementation of the Impact Campus initiative, which focuses not only on education but also on community empowerment.

Additionally, the Al-Amin Waqf Mosque is expected to serve as a broader community empowerment center, not merely a place of worship. The program is also designed to support efforts to address stunting by meeting the protein needs of the surrounding community.

He also emphasized the importance of collaboration in social activities. In his view, the more parties involved, the greater the impact that can be generated.

“The community’s enthusiasm and the support of donors are positive indicators of this program’s sustainability,” he said.

Prof Alla also hopes the Protein Donation program can be expanded to include other nutritional sources, including innovative products from IPB University, so that its benefits become even broader and more sustainable. (dr) (IAAS/LAN)
